What are Gerber files?
Gerber files are the de facto standard for communicating PCB data from design to manufacture. Nearly all PCB design software can export PCB Gerber files, however, problems arise from poor implementations of the Gerber standard, incorrect export configurations and misunderstandings on the designer’s part. Fabricators use Gerber files to produce the printed circuit boards, which is why it is vital to be able to check and understand PCB Gerber files, not just the design file.
Why is DFM Analysis important?
Many PCB manufacturers boast free DFM reviews as part of their offerings. In the most basic sense, DFM review checks that the boards can be manufactured by the board house and is a necessary stage in PCB manufacture.
