Tutorial: Disable VSync, Mute Music, Custom Graphics & More!
Introduction

Hey guys, since much of you guys are requesting most customization for the game, I am here to show you how you can customize some settings by yourself by editing the config file. I know there’s no options for Anti-Aliasing and VSync and such in the in-game’s options, but it does support them however. So let me show you. 🙂

How to edit your config file

Go to the following folder location (on Windows):
C:\Users\»Your PC name»\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

In this folder you will find the file called «GameUserSettings.ini». Edit this file in Notepad or a better program like Notepad++ by right clicking on it and choosing for «Open with».

I can’t find the AppData folder?

If you don’t see the AppData folder, go to your Windows Control Panel. Then choose Large Icons in the right top and click on the Folder Options.

In the Folder Options, go to the «View» tab and under «Hidden files and folders» choose the option «Show hidden files, folders and drives». After that apply and close and you should be able to find it.

Customizing the settings

Once you open the GameUserSettings.ini file you can customize all the settings in there. I will show you what you can change (as far as I know). Always save and close the file after editing. Then when you start the game the settings should have been changed.

Adjusting Resolution
The following lines can be changed to your screen’s resolution that you want to use:
ResolutionSizeX
ResolutionSizeY
After the = replace the number with your desired resolution dimensions. So if your resolution is 1920×1080 it will have to look like this:
ResolutionSizeX = 1920
ResolutionSizeY = 1080
I didn’t change this since the game always automatically adjusts the resolution, but if you want a custom resolution you can change the values there.

Graphic settings
The following values are the graphics settings that you can customize to your likings:
sg.ResolutionQuality=100
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=0
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0
sg.ShadowQuality=0
sg.PostProcessQuality=0
sg.TextureQuality=0
sg.EffectsQuality=0

You should keep ResolutionQuality on 100 as it’s 100%.
The other values can be changed freely to the following numbers:

0 = Low
1 = Medium
2 = High
3 = Ultra

Fullscreen/Windowed mode
True = Fullscreen
False = Windowed mode

Sound settings
You can change the following settings:

MainVolume = Pick a number between 0 and 100. 0 is muted sound, 100 is max volume.
UseHeadPhones = If you are using headphones, put it on True for best quality, but if you use Speakers or Home Surround System put it on False.
MuteMusic = If you put this on False it should mute the music in game, but it doesn’t seem to work at the moment.

Controller — Invert Y
If you want to invert Y on your controller, you can put the «InvertY» setting on «True».

Changing language
You can change the language by editing the two letters after the «Language» value.

Currently available languages:
en = English
fr = French
de = German
es = Spanish
it = Italian

Disabling VSync
If you want to disable VSync (for lower end PC’s) change the following value:
«bUseVSync». Change it to False to disable VSync or True for enabling it.

What to do if settings don’t save or get reverted after starting game

If this happens, right click on your file and choose «Properties». And then add «Attributes» select «Read Only». Apply and close and it should work. After, when you want to edit the file again disable read only again, edit, save and then repeat.

Getting Started

The following guides will require you to edit some of the files in the configuration folder of Dead by Daylight. You can find configuration files from this directory:

How to Uncap FPS

The maximum frame rate that you can get while playing Dead By Daylight is 144 FPS. Of course, it will also depend on your monitor if it can handle such amount of frame rate. Here’s how you can uncap the FPS of Dead By Daylight.

1. Go to the configuration directory of the game.
2. Find and open the file called Engine.ini .
3. Add the following line of codes:

[/script/engine.engine] bSmoothFrameRate=false MinSmoothedFrameRate=5 MaxSmoothedFrameRate=144

Vsync Settings

1. Go to the configuration directory of the game.
2. Find and open the file called GameUserSettings.ini .
3. Find the line called bUseVSync= and set your desired value. You can use true or false.

Disable and Improve Anti-Aliasing (AA)

To disable the anti-aliasing, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the configuration directory of the game.
2. Find and open the file called Engine.ini .
3. Add the following lines at the end of the file:

[/script/engine.streamingsettings] r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0

To improve the anti-aliasing of the game, do the following steps:

1. Go to the configuration directory of the game.
2. Find and open the file called Engine.ini .
3. Add the following line of codes:

[/script/engine.streamingsettings] r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=2 r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.2 r.TemporalAASamples=64 r.TemporalAASharpness=0.8 r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1

How to Enable Widescreen Resolution

Editing the resolution when playing the game is much easier than you think.

1. Open Steam and go to the Library section.
2. Find Dead by Daylight.
3. Right-click the game and select the Properties option.
4. In the Launch Option input box, put your desired resolution values.
5. Launch the game normally.

Example: -resx=1920 -resy=1080
