7-zip поддерживает русский язык, интерфейс архиватора не вызовет сложностей даже у новичков, обладающих минимальным опытом работы с компьютерными программами. Основную область рабочего окна 7z занимает файловый менеджер. Кнопки наиболее часто используемых функций размещены под строкой меню. Архиватор поддерживает большое количество форматов: 7zip, rar, cab, tar и др. Специально для удобства пользователей при установке осуществляется автоматическая интеграция 7-zip в контекстное меню операционной системы Windows.
Программа используется для создания обычных и самораспаковывающихся архивов, из которых данные извлекаются без установки архиватора. Обработка большого объема информации занимает минимум времени. Пользователям предоставляется возможность самостоятельно выбирать метод сжатия – по умолчанию установлен оптимальный. При необходимости созданный архив можно защитить паролем, шифрование производится по технологии AES-256. Функция Тестирование позволяет проверить работоспособность заархивированных данных. Файлы можно копировать, перемещать, переименовывать, извлекать в определенный каталог и в текущую папку.
