1. You should download the program dgVoodoo 2 [dege.freeweb.hu] (on the website page, the latest stable version is about dgVoodoo v2.63)
2. Open the folder with the game Local Disk Program Files (x86) steam steamapps common Syberia
3. Open the folder with the unzipped program.
4. From the program folder, transfer the dgVoodoo.conf and dgVoodooCpl files to the game folder.
5. In the program folder, open the MS / x86 folder, and all contents (3-4 files) are also transferred to the game folder.
6. Next, open the dgVoodooCpl file in the game folder
7. Change the parameters in the DirectX
VRAM tab 1024 MB
Texturing Force anisotropic 16x
Resolution 1920×1080
8. Uncheck the dgVoodoo Watermark box

I played in fullscreen, and it honestly wasn’t that bad (my native is 1920×1080). In windowed mode, my normal cursor remained on top of the game’s cursor, which made it hard to see when the game cursor changed.

i played Syberia 1 in windowed mode, then just stayed with fullscreen for #2. in the end, I think fullscreen is the way to go, even if the resolution doesn’t look so great. like Vaskania said, the mouse cursor always stayed on top which can be a pain.
I had this problem too with the mouse cursor always visible, but I came across a tiny program called NoMousy which allowed me to hide the windows cursor.

according to the description in the config that option should fix it but unfortunately it does not help in my case. Deactivating AF isn’t helping with the black lines either. Are you using an Nvidia card or AMD? I’m beginning to think that it might be related to AMD drivers. :wasted:
What card and drivers are you using? I’m running on a 5600XT on 20.10.1 drivers and don’t have any issues That didn’t solved me neither. Black micro lines still appears. BTW: my GPU is ASUS RTX 2080.

OK, here I am back again.
The solution to my problem was to install the Gold Edition, which includes both chapters, and give up on the Steam versions. I still had to use dgVooDoo, but this time the picture didn’t stretch.
So, playing the game I found out I had the problem with the black lines, too. The fix suggested doesn’t work, so I tried a lot and the only solution that actually works is if I set the original 800×600 resolution on dgVooDoo.
Unfortunately, this makes the picture very small on my Full HD screen. I figured I simply had to change my own resolution, but unfortunately my laptop doesn’t allow me to got under 1024×768.
With this resolution the image becomes acceptable and the black lines are gone, but on a 15» monitor it would have been nice to have it full screen.

I bought a boxed copy of Syberia online, and got Syberia II via a boxed copy of the ‘Viva Adventure Anthology’. You should still be able to find them on eBay, or elsewhere.

I also found out that enabling «Displaying pointer trails» in mouse properties hides the mouse when playing! I might not be the first to have found this solution or any for that matters. I’m just trying to make it even clearer to people how to make this work best for them.

I did this and it’s working good so far, however there’s one issue — sometimes there are weird black lines running across the screen in different places. It’s similar to what Silencium described, but it’s still there no matter if I turn the AF on or off.
Is anybody else having the same problem? I honestly don’t know what’s worse, playing this game at default resolution, or playing in HD but with those weird lines.

It seems to be a known issue with the software.. Haven’t either found a solution to that.

I was revisiting the game to check this black lines and I have bad news, I believe it is impossible to get rid of them because the game it’s so scaled to high resolutions the game assets don’t align/blend perfectly, resulting in this black lines hopefuly (imagine red/green lines).
It would be something similar like scaling an old 3d game and see the background between the poligons.

On the other hand, there is a new version of dgvoodoo2 that supports dx12 as backend but for some reason (awful amd drivers surely) in Syberia the videos play in another «window» but doesn’t get on top, so you have to alt+tab to see the cinematics and when it finishes you have to alt+tab again to go back to the game «window».
This doesn’t happen when you use dx11 as backend in dgvoodoo2 but thanks to f****** amd drivers the graphics looks all white or corrupted. This didn’t happen when I post the guide.

I had the same problem, my «solution» was to play the game in the original 800×600 resolution and change my monitor’s resolution to have it «sort of» full screen. «Sort of» means my monitor doesn’t allow me to lower my resolution to 800×600, but with 1280×720 (or 1280×600, which in this case gives the same outcome) the picture is large enough to play the game on my 15′ laptop (to my calculation, the picture I get has the size of a full screen on a 12,5′ screen, which is the best solution I could find to get rid of the lines and play the game with an acceptable picture size with the original quality).

1. Следует скачать программу dgVoodoo2 [github.com] (на странице сайта, последнюю стабильную версию- примерно dgVoodoo v2.63)
2. Открываем папку с игрой Локальный диск\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Syberia
3. Открываем папку с разархивированной программой.
4. Из папки программы переносим файлы dgVoodoo.conf и dgVoodooCpl в папку игры.
5. В папке программы, открываем папку MS / x86 , и всё содержимое (3-4 файла), также переносим в папку с игрой.
6. Далее, уже в папке с игрой открываем файл dgVoodooCpl
7. Меняем параметры во вкладке DirectX
VRAM 1024 MB
Texturing Force anisotropic 16x
Resolution 1920×1080
8. Убираем галочку на dgVoodoo Watermark
9. Должно быть, как на картинке ниже.
Сохраняем Apply

Спасибо! Но, инфа , видно, устаревшая. Там теперь версия 2_82 и отличается от Вашей. Во-первых на локальном диске у меня отсутствуют указанные папки, либо, существуют на другом диске, во-вторых, папки самого архива имеют некоторые различия. Зато, теперь игра у меня запускается сразу в двух окнах, лол)

Переустановил DgVoodoo все вышло. Только два последних файла с папки MS добавил, ибо скорее всего как раз из-за первых двух файлов у меня возникала проблема.

При первом запуске всё заработало, но при последующих запусках запускается в окне, и настройки разрешения экрана и другие не помогают. Как-то настройки можно сбросить?
